The Bicester School are back on firm ground after a week of incredible snowy conditions for ski school on the Pyrenees Mountains.
Around 39 students learned to ski/snowboard or build upon their existing skill level for a week over the Easter holiday break. As well as five hours of ski school each day, they still had the energy left for bowling, karaoke, a shopping trip to Andorra Le Vella, a trampoline park and a local pizzeria for dinner. The students loved the daily awards for ‘Moose on the Loose’ and ‘Legend of the Day’, as well as Fancy Dress Friday, which saw some students doing their research prior to the trip and bringing along some props of their own!
Accompanying staff loved really getting to know the students over the week, saying they were fantastic company and were all excellent – both on the slopes and off. They are incredibly proud of the students for their behaviour, attitude, resilience and willingness to give everything a go. They respected the mountain and followed their instructors impeccably, while maintaining the ability to follow expectations consistently.
Teacher Christina Ware said: “I’d like to thank the fantastic team of staff I had with me this week, for giving up their holiday and bringing energy and passion to the trip! Thank you Mr Pearce, Mr Britnell, Mr C Brown, Mrs Wilson, Miss Fry & Miss Long. I’d also like to thank Maggie, Gemma, Mandy and Reception for helping with the huge amount of admin that goes along side planning this trip.”
The school regularly updated parents with video and photos, and were sent some amazing parent comments after the trip, including:
“I’ve been very jealous of the amazing time you’ve been having. I can’t thank you and all the other teachers enough for giving the kids the most incredible experience.”
“Thank you for the dedication and passion all the teachers have shown our kids – truly character building stuff that they will talk about together for many years to come.”
“Thanks for the amazing amount of effort you put into making the skiing week so memorable for our kids. I don’t think any other school could do a better job of looking after them and making it such a week to remember. You guys are legends!”
Already looking forward to next year!
