The Bicester School has once again shown its commitment to community engagement and healthy living with a formidable presence at the annual Town & Gown race through Oxford.
On Sunday, May 12, a team comprising 40 enthusiastic students and 20 dedicated staff members joined thousands of runners in both the 3k and 10k races, in a show of camaraderie and fitness to inspire others in the school community to get moving.
The event was generously sponsored by property consultancy Bidwells, who, as part of their commitment to promoting active lifestyles within Bicester, funded ten race entries for the school. Funding was also provided for the runners’ entries by proceeds from the school’s successful dance production, as well as generous staff contributions – a real collaborative effort that bolstered participation numbers.
Thanks goes to Fresh Direct, a stalwart supporter of the school’s charitable initiatives, which generously donated fresh fruit to the runners as well as the parents and spectators cheering from the sidelines.
Well done too to our creative Sports Council, who designed and provided eye-catching bespoke T-shirts for the 10k runners!
PE teacher Sarah Masterson, who has taught at the school since 2004, said: “The Bicester School remains committed to fostering a culture of wellness and community engagement, with initiatives like the Town and Gown race serving as shining examples of its dedication to these values.”
Executive Principal Tony Rushworth said: “It was a great event and I am delighted that so many staff and students took part with such enthusiasm.”
